A MINI-MUSEUM (Next to the Info Booth)
Eastside Heritage Center brings history to you! Step back in time and explore the Eastside’s rich agricultural history; discover the origins of Bellevue’s first Strawberry Festivals in the 1920s-30s; and learn about how the Lowering of Lake Washington (1916) affected the Eastside. The opening of the Hiram Chittenden Locks on July 4, 1917 connected the freshwaters of Lake Washington to the Pacific Ocean, drastically impacting those who lived and worked around Lake Washington.

Grind corn the way early Eastsiders did and try your hand at pumping water. Create a personal time capsule by using a traditional canning machine to seal a can of your memories and "artifacts" for years to come. Bring items from home or find something special at the Festival. There will also be "my favorite things" forms available for you to fill out and include in your time capsule. Children can also have a dairy farm experience, trying their hand at milking a cow.

When did you or your ancestors move to the Eastside? From where did you come? Add your family's story to our interactive Eastside Timeline.

Ever wonder what kind of equipment was used on Eastside farms and in Eastside households in the 1920s and 1930s? Now is your chance to find out! Artifact demonstrations will include a Splitting Wood with Fro and Mallet, a Grinding Stone, a Washing Machine and a Ringer.

Filled with fun FREE activities around the Strawberry Festival! Activities include hands-on history, games, and more. Pick up a Passport at the Information Booth or at one of the Passport Stations. Complete the passport for a chance to win 2017 Season Tickets for four to Seattle Mariners home games and a Ken Griffey, Jr. jersey from BECU! Completed passports must be turned into the BECU booth at the Strawberry Festival. Thank you to BECU for sponsoring the Passport.

Each year we feature vintage & exceptional cars on display as part of the Festival. Learn more about our Sunday AUTO SHOW on this page.
